Question:

What impact will a leave vote have on Sterling?

Answer:

Old Mutual Wealth’s Investment Division’s view:

The pound could drop as low as US$1.2-1.25 as sterling-denominated assets lose some of their allure, putting Britain’s large current account deficit – the gap between its imports versus exports – into focus. The Bank of England would find itself in a quandary, torn between the desire to curb inflation and the need to support the currency.
