Old Mutual International (Ireland) Limited (‘Old Mutual International Ireland’) has transferred all of its life assurance business, including all its life policies, to another Irish insurance undertaking, Old Mutual International Ireland Limited (‘Old Mutual International Ireland’), pursuant to a scheme that was approved by the High Court of Ireland (the “Scheme”) on 19th November 2012. Old Mutual International Ireland is part of the Old Mutual International Division, which is part of the Wealth Management Division owned by Old Mutual plc. In light of the fact that both Old Mutual Ireland and Old Mutual International Ireland are now owned by the same ultimate parent company, it did not make commercial sense for both businesses to be run as separate entities. It was considered by Old Mutual Ireland and Old Mutual International Ireland that it would be more efficient and cost effective to have the life assurance businesses of both Old Mutual Ireland and Old Mutual International Ireland carried on through one entity in Ireland.
The documents below are intended to explain to Old Mutual Ireland policyholders in further detail the reasoning behind and the mechanics of the proposed Scheme and to outline the key features of the proposal to a policyholders of Old Mutual Ireland.
