Information ratio

The Information Ratio concerns a portfolio’s benchmark. It is calculated as: (average investment return over benchmark return)/standard deviation of investment return over benchmark. The Information Ratio reveals how much excess return investors get for their excess risk. Information ratios rarely exceed 1.0 and are frequently negative, particularly once allowance is made for charges.
