We are looking for skilled individuals and teams who not only understand investment theory but also understand the real world dynamics of the markets in which they operate. We are also looking for the right ‘soft’ qualities to excel in their role, to learn and develop as the world changes, and to get the most out of the resources at hand.
We are interested in all people that have an impact on the portfolio, not just the lead portfolio manager. Organisational issues are considered here, as the environment in which the manager operates must encourage effective portfolio management. This is about how the manager is seeking to add value. It is not a simple description of philosophy in conventional terms – by growth or value for example. Instead, we are looking for a clearly defined philosophy explaining how their market is inefficient and how they seek to exploit those inefficiencies to add value, together with evidence that it works. We also ensure that the philosophy is suited to the manager’s experience and skill set.
